As an echo to the plagues in Moses and Pharaoh, the Prohaska Trio embraces the fascinating motif of the divine curse. Their original and eclectic programme spans different periods and aesthetics with delight.

Biblical punishment, evil rituals, and conversations between malevolent gods are among the situations and themes that soprano Anna Prohaska explores with cellist Nicolas Altstaedt and keyboardist Francesco Corti. A pagan universe filled with sorceresses and witches — in a musical journey that combines gripping baroque works; sometimes furious, sometimes harrowing airs; and captivating musical scores — comes in response to the world of Christian spirituality. At the centre of this concert are underground spirits who wake from their eerie slumber, thanks to two contemporary pieces being played for the first time in France at the Festival d’Aix. The evening will resonate with charismatic figures grappling with their fates, in a voyage to the heart of humanity’s soul, doubts and suffering, as well as its hopes and its wildest dreams.
