Every year, the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra (MYO) brings together more than 100 young musicians selected from throughout the Mediterranean basin to offer them advanced training programmes, a unique intercultural experience, and the opportunity to perform as a group. Auditions for the 2023 symphonic session have already begun in Paris and in Rabat, and are starting very soon in Milan. There is still time, however, to register for the following auditions!
Open to the finest young classical musicians from conservatories, academies, universities and higher music institutes of the Mediterranean basin, the MYO’s yearly symphonic session offers an intercultural experience of orchestra life in rehearsals, in the stimulating setting of the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence. It provides top-level musical training, with instruction and coaching from experienced artists, and work on masterpieces of the symphonic repertoire, under the musical direction of the young and talented British conductor Duncan Ward. In the upcoming session, artists will be mentored by the musicians of the London Symphony Orchestra.
This MYO Symphonic Session will conclude with a concert featuring an exciting programme that combines Mediterranean pieces of music, a collaborative new creation, and great works from the classic repertoire.
Auditions have already started in Aix-en-Provence, Nice, Marseille, and Avignon, and will follow in Athens, Beirut, Cairo, Lisbon, Ljubljana, Sarajevo, Tirana, Tunis and Zagreb.
