Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the difficulties for travelling that ensued, the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra has been forced to cancel the annual auditions it usually holds from November to March in roughly 20 Mediterranean cities. For the 2021 symphonic session, and as an exception this year, the MYO team has decided to prioritize the musicians who were selected in 2020 and who followed digital session. However, any artist who wishes to participate in the 2021 Medinea sessions may apply via video.
2021 MEDINEA SESSIONS
Applications for the next Medinea sessions, which will take place from March 2021 to August 2021 in Lisbon, Sidi Bou Said, Aix-en-Provence and Nuoro, are now open. As an exception this year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, artists who wish to participate in the sessions must apply via video.
Open to a dozen young musicians from the Mediterranean Basin, the Medinea sessions offer an experience in improvisation and instantaneous composition as part of an ensemble. Led by composer, saxophonist and jazz musician FABRIZIO CASSOL, the Medinea sessions give young musicians the opportunity to take a close look at intercultural creation as they experiment with techniques in collective composition, with the aim of creating a common musical production that also reveals the individual nature of each participant. This year, four sessions will be held from March to August 2021 in four cities of the Mediterranean Basin: Lisbon, Sidi Bou Said, Aix-en-Provence and Nuoro. At the end of the session, the musical productions will be performed for audiences during concerts that combine musical traditions with brand new compositions.

2021 SYMPHONIC SESSION
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra is forced to rethink the format of its symphonic session so that the musicians may play in safety. More information will be coming in early 2021. Stay tuned!
The symphonic session of the MYO offers an intercultural experience of life in an orchestra, at rehearsal and on tour, within the stimulating environment of the Festival d'Aix. It provides high-level musical training, in which young musicians can benefit from coaching by musicians of the LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA while working on masterpieces of the symphonic repertoire under the baton of the young and talented DUNCAN WARD, the first official music director of the session, which he will lead until 2023.
