Support for the enoa network has been renewed by the European Commission for the third time running as part of the Creative Europe programme for the 2020-2024 period. The network will receive a subsidy of two million euros, 50% of its total budget.
This 2020-2024 programme, entitled "Empowering Opera: breaking boundaries for institutions and artists" aims to inspire, support and showcase innovative opera projects which tell new stories that reflect contemporary societies.
Its implementation also intends to remove artistic and financial barriers as well as unconscious bias that hinder the appearance of new artistic expressions in all areas of the opera sector, from training and artist recruitment to opera production and programme.
Full speed ahead to promote diversity and varied artistic forms of expression in all the European operatic sector!
The Festival d’Aix-en-Provence is a founder member of the network enoa (European Network of Opera Academies) and is in charge of the coordination and running since its creation in January 2009.
The Festival is responsible for the fulfillment of the commitments made with the European Commission in the frame of the new programme Empowering Opera: breaking boundaries for institutions and artists. Therefore, it ensures the implementation of the planned actions and activities, the proper use of the grant awarded and the dynamics of the network by giving impetus to enoa’s strategic orientations.
