The Académie du Festival d'Aix
The Académie du Festival Aix-en-Provence is a unique centre for training, experimentation and the professional integration of young artists with the objective of revealing new talent and facilitating new encounters year after year. Its singularity stems from its place at the heart of the Festival, which nurtures it from within by actively supporting the artistic processes and the essential values of equality, diversity and inclusion.

— A QUARTER OF A CENTURY OF ACADÉMIE
In 2023, the Académie will celebrate its 25th anniversary. Its twenty-five years of history at the heart of the Festival d’Aix have made it one of the oldest festival academies, which also stands out for the great diversity of its artists. Since its creation, it has accompanied more than three thousand international artists from all disciplines – musical creation, singing, chamber music, conducting, stage direction, dramaturgy, visual and digital arts, etc. – through development, reflection, experimentation, and creation programmes. Immersed in one of Europe’s most dynamic cultural places, it offers these generations of artists an exceptional environment for professional and artistic development.
The contents and objectives of these activities are renewed every year, thus responding both to the artists’ needs and to the challenges facing the opera world. Just like the Festival, the Académie plays an important role in the revival of the opera genre and is at the forefront of music and performing arts.

— A UNIQUE ARTISTIC AND PROFESSIONAL ENVIRONMENT
The artists of the Académie take an active part in the life of the Festival, as they enrich its programme with concerts, masterclasses and debates open to all, and contribute to the discussions both with different audiences throughout the region and with opera professionals. During their time in Aix, they are involved in reflections that shape the opera world and offer different audiences the opportunity to discover the new artists and artistic achievements of tomorrow’s opera. This dynamic is strengthened by the role the Académie plays within the enoa network (European Network of Opera Academies) – its eleven European partners pool their efforts to steer the future of opera towards more creation, diversity, and inclusion. Beyond Europe, the Académie builds links with artists from all regions of the world.
